What did you find difficult?

When we started preparing for our music video, we already knew our setting for the task, however the real problem was most of the video is made up of dancing. Finding dancers and practicing the moves in sync was difficult but after organizing extra hours after school, we managed to film all the dancing in just three different sessions.

What do you like and dislike about your prelim task video?

Our music video doesn't include many special effects, however the few that we mimicked made the video look more realistic and dramatic.

If you did the prelim task again, what would you do differently? 

If i were to redo this particular task, i would spend more time retaking some of the shots because on some scenes we only took once.

Who did you work with and how did you manage the task between you?

In my group, i worked mainly with the main star of the video because i videoed most of the footage and needed lots of specific shots.

How did you plan your sequence? What processes did you use?

We made a storyboard with every shot in the music video, this became very useful when we started the actual filming of the production. We also planned out every scene by taking recce shots of potential filming locations. Deciding on actors to play each role was so hard that we decided to have multiple trials for the best person for the job. We did this by videoing lip syncing videos and various dance rehearsals.

What theories could you apply to the video you chose?

We applied Godwins theory to our music video.It had a long leg shot at the beginning of the video, this is a prime example of voyeurism.

What technology did you use to complete the task, and how did you use it?

We used multiple programs to edit and produce our music video.

How successful was your music video copy? Please identify what worked well, and with hindsight, what would you improve/do differently? What did others say about your production?

I think the camera work was very accurate in comparison to the original video, The timings was another difficult aspect of getting the two videos similar, however, with a slight editing with the speed, i think the video manages to keep in time with the Britney Spears production. If i was to go over and improve the music video, i'd work harder on the choreography and practice the dancing until everyone in the group was 100% sure with the moves. I think during rehearsals and filming, it was very rushed and not as good as it could have been.

By completing this task, i learnt a lot of camera work skills that i hadn't known of before, because i wasn't dancing in the video, i was mostly filming and editing, i learnt how to get the right angles and shots. 

How does it compare with filming an opening to a film?

Music videos consist of hundreds of fast cuts and footage, this is because music videos are only a few minutes long and you don't want to bore your audience.Film openings are a lot slower, less footage and cuts, less editing. 

Looking at the other group's videos, which do you think were the most successful and why?

I particularly enjoyed watching Oliva's group video of 'Black Magic' originally by Little Mix. They had a strong performance image, what i mean by this is they all looked and acted the part, using very similar clothing as the girl groups and performing a very sassy singers. Also they had challenging editing in their video, and they took it on board very easily.
