Filming session 1
Drama Studio-Projector scenes

Above are some pictures from our first filming session. The screen and the projected images were set up in the schools drama studio as we could make the room pitch black. We did a couple of shots of Soraya lip syncing in front of the screen and some shots of all three of us messing around. We used three cameras to film different angles of the performances. This meant that we have more footage to play around with when it comes to the editing stage. After looking through the footage me and my group decided that it was best to only have soraya in these scenes as we distract the viewers eye from the main singer and the shots with all three of us in them look crowded.

Album cover experimentation
Below are two images from my groups second photo shoot. I edited the pictures using Photoshop and created two possible pictures for the cover of my groups digi pak.
Drama Studio Usage
For our music video one of our locations is the schools drama studio. As this is a room where the drama teachers teach we needed to know the times and days when the drama studio is free. So we emailed the head of drama and asked for the time and dates when the drama studio is free.

Similar Artist Photoshoots
Above are photos of the bands London Grammar and Paramore. We are aiming to create this types of style in our photos and pose in similar poses to the ones the bands are doing. The photos below are of the girl band Haim. We would like to have the same type of clothing style that Haim has and we are going to wear similar things so we resemble a band more.

Student music video marking - what gets a level 4 and why
Level 4 Criteria 32-40 marks
Level 4The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills:
• shooting material appropriate to the task set; including controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes and close attention to mise en scene
• editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer and making selective and appropriate use of shot transitions, captions and other effects
• recording and editing sound with images appropriately.
Where a candidate has worked in a group, an excellent contribution to construction is evident.

Shooting Obstacles
Problems during planning stage
When planning when to film we had to overcome some obstacles to do with our canvases.
The first obstacle was how were we going to transport the canvases as none of us can drive.
We realised that this would restrict when we could film.
We then thought of where we were going to hang the canvases up and realised that we couldn't
think of anywhere that we could hang them up. This lead to us deciding to keep the canvases
in school and only take them home when painting them. This means that we can hang the
canvases up on one of the schools sheds making it easier to film the scenes the canvases are
needed for as they will constantly be in school.
Problems when filming
Due to the weather, we were unable to film scenes that we wanted to film, setting our filming
schedule back a couple of days.
Final Band Name
After a lot of discussion, we decided to change our band name to Vision, making it easier to remember and bold. Here are the final two fonts we'd like to use for our band image.

We particularly liked this font because it looks very indie, very different but simple.

We could vividly visualize this font on the front cover of the album, however this font could walk into being too rock and not fit with our theme.

Pete and Jake's workshop
Pete's Top tips:
Period three, all the media students in year 13 went into the hall to have a take to Pete Fraser about how to produce the best music video possible. He did this by presenting a short presentation with top tips on how to boost your marks.
Jake's Experience:
Period four we then had a talk from one of Pete's ex students, Jake Wynne, who slowly made his way up the music industry. He became an editor than slowly a director.
This is one of the first videos he edited, This was a great hit and won a Brit award which helped him climb his way up the music industry.
Spice Girls-Outer space girls
This is a video of the first music video he directed.
Nojahoda-1999
Our take on Robbie Williams- Let me entertain you:
Period five we all had white and black face paint in the rock style of kiss in Robbie's video and wore monochrome clothes to blend in. After preparation we all went up in groups of six to perform in the same style Robbie Williams did in his video. The Make-up worked as a mask which let us let go a bit when performing and it was a great confidence experience.
I was in the second group performing as Robbie, vvv video below vvv

Letter of permission
Here is a letter that I write to send to the singer Foxes record label (Sony Music) to ask for permission to use her song "Night Owls Early Birds" for the song for my group's music video.
Costume
We did some research into similar bands and artists to see their style in clothes, makeup and locations.
Issy has taken inspiration from the pictures above and created a similar style for our music video
Locations for our music video
Possible locations for our filming
The images below are photographs of one possible location we are thinking about, the location is Galley wood common in Chelmsford. We think this would be a potential area to film because it has both open space and trees, this is suitable for our video as it is outside and we hope to create an outside scene at around the time of dusk. We also like this location as we have easy and quick access to it so if we end up re-filming anything, it is easy and quick to get to.
We also need somewhere for the performance which needs to have good lighting, we were thinking of using the schools drama studio but will need to book a time to use it. This would be good and will help us make it look professional as the lights are good to control ourselves and we can use this anytime as long as we check first with head of department as we have easy and quick access and can get to, to look at in school time, lesson time and our free study periods. It is a big open space which is good for our shot we will need, we can adjust lighting to make it look like a studio or stage.
Make-up
Gothic Make-up ideas:

These images are all quite bold as they use a lot of makeup but they would look good in front of the camera and would avoid the singer looking pale and timid. I haven't chosen pinks as the image we are going for isn't as girly, although I don't think the makeup should be too heavy as we aren't going for the 'Goth' look either. The makeup should be a mix of natural and dark colours.
Issy has taken all the inspiration and come up with a suitable style for the music video
